Does the effect stack?

no, you cannot have more then 1 of the same augmentation. if you recieve a second augmentation of the same type through an event it will get broken down into scrap. so obviously there cannot be any stacking :)
if you manage to get 2, I dont see why it cannot stack... but like I said, you cant have double augmentations

Eh?
Where'd you get that info from.

I've had duplicate augs on many occasions, and they do indeed stack.
I recall on one occasion having 3x Automated Reloaders!
Result = Lots of Dakka!!

What I'm not clear on is whether they stack additively, or multiplicatively.
e.g.
Hull Laser II (default cool down 15s) with 3x Automated Reloaders

15*(1-0.15)*(1-0.15)*(1-0.15) = 9.211875s
or
15*(1-(3x0.15)) = 8.25s

It's also not clear if the modifier from elite crew is combined additively, or multiplicatively.

Some Aug's stack, other's don't, it's a valid tag in the blueprints.xml.

Code: Select all

<augBlueprint name="SCRAP_COLLECTOR">
	<title>Scrap Recovery Arm</title>
	<desc>Allows the ship to collect 10 percent more scrap from any source.</desc>
	<cost>50</cost>
	<bp>8</bp>
	<rarity>1</rarity>
	<stackable>true</stackable>
	<value>0.10</value>
</augBlueprint>
stackable true, should answer your question, albeit I don't know whether it stacks multiplicatively or additively.

Yeah some of them are stackable and some are not. Which is never made clear until both have happened to you.

It's easy to tell how an Aug stacks. If it doesn't and you already have one the game will stop you from buying another. And if one comes up in a random event it goes directly to scrap.

It isn't that hard is it? engi med bots, long range scanner, advanced nav, preigniter and stuff that doesn't do anything when you have a second one doesn't stack. Augments that increase/decrease something by x% stacks as far as I can tell...

You should unpack data.dat and look into the blueprints.xml file, it tells you everything about the weapons and if they are stackable or not.
It helps a lot with planning strategies.

I am so happy.
First of all, dual scrap recovery does work.
Secondly, I now have three.
I feel no matter how new I am to this game, I am gonna win for the first time
