Video performance issues: lag, glitch, pause, freeze

Postby James » Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:05 pm

After buying and installing from GOG, the program runs with significant video glitching issues. Even at the introduction screen, instead of smoothly scrolling, it jerks through as if it were a slide show. The mouse pointer also is lagging when it's focused in the Into the Breach window. However, other applications run fine. Performance monitor shows CPU, GPU, Network, Disk and memory all at 10% utilization or lower. I have an I7 on an m.2 SSD HD and run other 3D games at more than 60FPS at 1080. I'm using a GeForce 970 with Win 10 64 bit. Rebooting, and uninstalling had no effect. Amazingly, I installed on another computer and the same problem is occurring. Would you be able to provide any input as to what I'm doing wrong? The game is barely playable in this state. It makes it feel like my CPU is at 99% but it's not.

Can you send us a dxdiag report and the log files in C:\Users\[NAME]\Documents\my games\Into The Breach? To make a dxdiag report, press <Windows Key>+R to open the run dialog, then type dxdiag and hit enter. Once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens, press "Save All Information" to make a text file you can email to me that will have all your system specs.

Thank you for the reply. I've emailed you the requested file.

I installed onto my laptop and noticed the game runs normally, without any lag. I then created a local user profile on my desktop and the game runs without any lag. My current theory is that the lag occurs on domain user accounts that have folder redirection turned on. Is it possible that because my "documents" folder is redirected to \\fileserver\username\documents, that somehow this is affecting the performance? Is there any way to force Into The Breach to use a different save game location (e.g. c:\GOG\intothebreach)?
