What is your favorite method of attacking?

What combination of weapons and systems do you try to get every time?

I'm a big fan of teleport + reconstructive teleport (the best augment in the game if you have a four-pad, third-level teleporter), mind-control, and hacking. I love to take out the crew instead of the ship. Even when I have no teleporter, mind-control, or hacking I target the oxygen and I'll cease-fire if fires are burning and health is low. And that is why my favorite ship(s) are the Mantis.

Clone Bay/Teleporter, with a Breach Bomb 2 for those pesky medbays, and a mind control so it's like I have an extra boarder for those first few seconds.

Or lots of shots (BL3, Flak), a Pre-ignitor, and 2 rechargers. Or 3 rechargers, which is effectively the same.

Crystal + Hacking. Got a problem with the enemy running off to the medbay or interrupting your warranted destruction of their Weapons Control System (gotta take out that missile!)

Lock down the room, then hack it. Reverse the charges AND after the Lockdown is finished, the enemy still has to break the doors, giving you those extra seconds you need to disable the Leto.
If you have more than one Crystal, this strategy isn't that great but if you're flying something like the Tektite or you finally got that Stasis Pod on a run, this is a godsend.

Either that or the Flakcruiser. Imagine the future of your FTL run as a starship, firing 12 shots (with some chaff that defense drones might shoot instead) every 10 seconds for all eternity.

Any form of Alpha strike. Especially with Pre-Igniter.

Definitely boarding. It's just so versatile. It almost doesn't matter what your opponent's ship is. I've even boarded Lanius ships without having a clone bay before. Sure I had level 3 teleporters and was just chipping away at the Lanius crew, but it worked.

However, if we're talking just about the most fun then fire beam is my favorite. Combined with ion weapons it's great to just light up the enemy ship and watch the crew scurry around in sheer panic.

Lasers and missiles! I like to brute force my way through things, rather than finessing it. Woe is me if they board me, set my ship on fire, knock out my systems, and whatever though

I used to like bombs, but I kept blowing my own ship up with them. iPad version

Get the weapon pre-igniter.

Fire off everything and blow up their systems.

Cloak their return volley (if they even have one) and blow them up round two.

Also, even if its not the greatest, the Fire Beam is hilarious.

Level III Hack on the oxygen and then shoot it out (preferably with a breach bomb/missile) just before the hack runs out.


If I lived in the FTl universe I'd be a great slug.

Fun fact: If you activate Hacking and then immediately disable the system it's hacking, it'll still drain the oxygen.

So it should be more...
