Has anyone won on normal or better with Rock A since AE?
I've been trying it like the last 4 days and it's ridiculous. There's just so much you need and so much you have to have go right. I die by sector 6 half the time, I think I've made it to the flagship twice. Has anyone won with Rock A since advanced edition came out. A 'Let's Play' of someone doing it in AE would be freaking fantastic. Thanks!

I was pretty close on hard, I had 2 scrap recovery arms, made it to sector 6. But after visiting 6 stores only one had any weapons, I had to resort to a Burst Laser 3 + artemis which is really shitty mid game. One decent free weapon, or decent weapons in stores and I could've done it

No stories, but I beat the game with every ship on at least Normal in the Beta, including the Frigidaire or whatever it's called. And including the Artemis.
Here are my tried-and-true strategies to win with the ship:
1) Sell those missiles ASAP for something better.
2) Get a teleporter, and possibly a fire weapon. Fire bombs are great.
3) Get non-rock crew to do the running around.

I haven't tried the Rock A since AE. But I think it doesn't makes a difference. It's like a few other ships. It's all about you getting lucky and be able to swap out of the missiles and into lasers early on before you run out of ordenance.

I think it makes more of a difference than you realize. I've only played since AE but... One of your starting weapons is a hull missile. With AE theres more systems, which means less empty rooms, which means less changes to save your missles and do more damage. Now add up a bunch of damage you take every run that you could have avoided with a hull missile hitting for 4 damage and youre dealing with a lot less scrap.Elhazzared wrote:I haven't tried the Rock A since AE. I've almost never used a hull missile to actually hit systemless rooms before AE anyway. Every single time knocking out stuff like weapons and piloting... And i was more of a noob back then so I wouldn't think of landing the last shot if he was a 3 or 4 life on a systemless room. So there you go. If I could before, so can you now... Early on it's possible to get a lot of missiles from surrenders. It's less scrap but usually you're losing around 5 scrap whenever they surrender but you can get even 6 missiles on a single surrender in sector 1. Later on this isn't viable as the loss of scrap becomes too high but early on while you are just looking to swap your weapons it's viable... RNG dictates whether or not you will get what you need early enough.

And I also meant "Bulwark" when I typed "Artemis" up there

Well theres more to it than that, theres a lot more random stuff you can get that you don't need and having to deal with hacking/mindcontrol etc.Elhazzared wrote:I've almost never used a hull missile to actually hit systemless rooms before AE anyway. I just have to say that if i played for a day or 2 on non AE i bet i'd win. I'm not that bad of a player, it would happen. With AE i think it might never happen for me.
Even just earlier today when I was trying a run out I actually lucked out and got a chain laser at the first shop, and a free missile replicator. I was like oh man this might be the one. Then all of a sudden out of no where in the 3rd sector I go from missing 1 hp to dead in 1 fight. The rockmen kill me, they can't get anywhere, I've died way more times than i'd like to admit from lack of oxygen because a) my oxygen room is always hit for some reason and b) something happens and it takes the rockman too long to get over there.
I have no problem recording when I play and you can be the judge yourself. Im really really tired right now though.
I have a question though, do you often skip fights or go to civilian sectors just to get by? I try to do every fight I can.
