Opponent was a mantis cruiser, with a shield + laser + teleport bomb; crew of 1 mantis + 1 human.
Battle started; targeted my dual laser on his shield, and my mini beam across 3 rooms. (weapons+2 others)
My dual laser fired, his laser fired. I cloaked.
My dual lasers both hit his shield generator; his laser missed.
From behind the cloak my mini beam fired hitting the 3 rooms.
He immediately offered surrender; I accepted.
A few seconds after this his shield generator exploded; obviously my weapons had lit some fires.
Given the uselessness of mantis crew at damage control I figured I'd wait around to see if he died.
About 2 minutes later his ship exploded and surprisingly I was awarded the "Bird of Prey" achievement!
I guess it was given because I was cloaked at the point that all the initial damage was delivered.
This game definitely rewards patience
