Suggestions: Recurring ships

I was wondering if the game designers could implement this at some time.

It would be kind of cool if the game took snapshots (so to speak) of your ship(s) at various times in the game then recycled these ships back into new games at random times after you die or beat the game. For example, say your flying along at sector 5 and as a random event you suddenly run into the ship you captained a few games ago at sector 4/5. Maybe it could be leaning hostile, neutral or friendly based upon the choices you made in that previous game. (If you kept helping out the pirates/slavers and leaving people to die then your old ship would be a hostile pirate, but if you were exceptionally paragon, it could be leaning friendly, depending somewhat on chance and ship type of course.)

Maybe this would be too hard to program, but it could add a bit of fun diversity to the game.

I think that's a very good idea, to have the next world shaped after your previous one. Karma.

Brilliant idea. AE is probably too far in development to implement this, but IMO it would be worthy to delay it for this.

Additionally, if all your crew died in a previous conflict with the flagship, with your ship intact: the next time you reach the end of Phase 3:

"Suddenly, the surviving crew of the crumbling Rebel flagship make for the teleporter! You notice them beam away as the flagship breaks apart. Just a moment later, what you had initially dismissed as a derelict ghost ship drifting nearby suddenly powers up and faces you! You run a scan on its interiors, and realize that the flagship's desperate crew have boarded it, and are powering its FTL drive!"

No need to say anything about a past life experience or anything; the player's shock will already be prevalent as he sees the same equipment on it!

As cool as facing your old ship is, the reason it's your old ship is because it exploded.

Some sort of miniboss would be neat though

BirdofPrey, I think we mean when you lose because all your crew died, but your ship was still intact.
By the way, there are many sub-bosses in the FTL: Captain's Edition mod!
