[Ship] The Enigma

Hello!

This is my first ever post and my first ever mod. I downloaded all of the modding tools today after falling in love with this game over the christmas period (thank god for the steam sale!!). I made this ship because i really enjoy the idea of boarding actions in space - blown open air locks, laser fire setting off the warp core, frozen floating bodies through hull breaches - you have seen the films.

THE ENIGMA:
This is a federation cruiser that has had its artillery piece removed and weapons system downgraded to allow the cruiser to act as a boarding vessel. As such it is equipped with a large nanobots, a teleportation device and 3 mantis boarding crew.

I have tried to make this fairly balanced but more veteran players may find this extremely easy? or hard? Anyway it would be pointless to post about balancing as its more for me to play than you! i have never beaten the game with it....

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you're in love with FTL, and kudos on trying your hand in modding.

Not sure if you're aware, but the Fed cruisers are not favorite ships when modding, due to some hardcode regarding the arty beam and cloak. Just fyi.

Woot! IonBlast 2, Engi-MedBots, 3 mantis and a fully upgraded teleporter!? :D :D Just thought i'd whine about it before anyone else. ;) Also, welcome to modding and balance debates.

Now, the ship should be fun to play first, and everything else second, so balance isn't a huge deal. And besides, player experience complicates things. There's a slight technical issue though. Looking at the screenshot it seems the weapons are floating off to the side of the ship for some reason. Not a huge complaint mind you, i know that learning to mod FTL is not very easy. But you should try to get that fixed. Using a huge teleporter is probably a mistake as well, a 4-person is already a killer.

It's a good first effort, keep it up. :) The reason i don't think it's going to be very memorable is because there's too many bonuses without any penalty or danger to offset this.
