Suggestion: Pictures to go with the Flavor texts.
It would be cool if the game showed us a picture of the events described in the random event texts. Space spiders!? Show me that.

You're welcome to start drawing them. If you do a good job, the devs might add them in.

That would be nice, although I don't know what graphical style it would be done in. I was thinking a cartoonish, but semi realistic approach , a la Dungeons of Dredmor, but it's up to Justin.

Honestly, while I think some of the events should have illustrations added to make it a little more interesting, I think some of them could just be playable scenarios. Ones like docking with another ship to try save the crew and stuff like that.
You could have another ship saunter up next to you and click with your external doors, inside being a whole lot of fire and breaches and the like. You send your crew onto the other ship to carry supplies and survivors off the ship as quick as you can. The longer you stay, the more likely the other ship will explode.
That's just one idea anyway.
