1. A new game mode. After having finally got to the Last Stand, I realised how short this game actually is, and I'm sure a lot of you know this as well. I do respect the dev's decision to create the campaign this way as it creates a competative and completionist mindset in players, that does have replayability. However, many people do like an ongoing game where we can get to know our crew, customise our ship fully and explore the galaxy. This is where my idea for a gamemode comes in.
Freeplay, or as I call it , 'Galaxy' mode.
The idea is simple. Instead of having a A to D , choosing to go through either B or C type map, the map is around 50 x 50 sectors in 2 dimensions, with no end game. Here are some of the features I was thinking to include.
- - Start of the game market screen , with a certain amount of scrap to spend on any ship, crew or items. Not repeatable, keeping in with the games 'fu** boring space trading* idea. All other shops are the same as campaign.
- Many more items, increased cargo hold (to say , 15 spaces max). Items are much harder to find in random events or battles.
- Bigger range of ships, for example scout or fighter ships to start with, going up to assault, and ending with cruisers and ships a bit smaller than the flagship.
- Ships can be captured by killing the crew rather than destroying the ship.
- Outer areas of the map are hostile or unexplored.
