O2 mysteriously depleting......
My apologies, I just purchased the game yesterday and have had some fun with it so far and from what I see on the forum, a lot yet to learn. I have had a recurring issue where I complete a fight only to look at the O2 meter and see it counting down toward zero. I've had 4-5 occasions where the entire crew has died; all the doors were closed and the hull was not breeched (not even close), and the O2 system was not targeted/attacked during the fight. Any ideas why my crew keeps suffocating? And any tips for a new player?? Thanks.....

Re: O2 mysteriously depleting......
Good question...I'm not sure how to do that but I'll play around with it and figure it out. Do you have to manually power all systems (i.e. allocate power to each system)? The funny thing is on the other missions where I died (exploded), I made it through 5-6 encounters and made it to sector 2 without the O2 problem. If you power up additional weapons or are in a nebula, does it automatically shut down power to systems like environmental control? If so, I'll have to keep any eye on that. Thanks....

You manually have to shift power, keep an eye out fore a red 'fire' symbol above the O2 logo at the bottom of the screen. Heck, look for the fire symbol whenever something hits your ship. Just pause it.

Sorry for double post, but
Ion storm events will power down every thing to half power (rounded down), and you have to manually channel power back into the systems. This will only occur in nebulae.

I make it a habit to glance down at the little bar of green icons every once in a while (usually before every jump and multiple times during every fight) to make sure things are powered the way I want them to. In a fight, it's nice to see what's damaged, what's on fire, what room the bad guys are in, and what rooms are shut down due to ion damage. Hopefully, you don't have to deal with these all at once but even if you do, every bit of information you need to make your decisions is right there.

Do play the tutorial, it's short and describes how to handle power management.

Re: O2 mysteriously depleting......
I'm curious what you mean by not even close. Are you thinking about the hull damage meter at the top, because you can have full hull at the top and still have a hull breach. The hull breaches are damage in rooms that you see by looking at your ship's layout. You'll see something that looks like a puncture torn into a room. Now if your internal doors are open that thing will suck the oxygen out of your ship fairly quickly. I forget how high a level you need your O2 system to be to counteract a hull breach. It might require level 3. Otherwise you just want to keep the doors to the room with the breach closed. Then have crewmen repair the breach and you're back in business. Another good thing to know about breaches is that you can repair them incrementally. When repairing a system if your crew all leave the room the repair effort is lost and has to be restarted. With a hull breach the repair progress is saved even when everyone leaves. So, you can repair a little then go to the medbay and pick up where you left off.U824942 wrote:the hull was not breeched (not even close)
