Favorite Loadout?

While in the "Favorite weapon" thread, I mentioned one of my favorite loadouts I ever had was an Ion, an Ion II, and a Glaive Beam. It was great because the Glaive's long charge time was just about perfect for the amount of time it took the Ions to take down the enemy's shield. Then suddenly they'd die.

What are some other favorite loadouts you've had, or tried really hard to get when you were close? I've never had 4 BL2's, for example, but I have had 2 BL2's and a BL4, and 3 BL2's and a BL1 before and beat the final boss both times on laser spam alone. Some day, though, I will have that wonderful 4 BL2 loadout I've always wanted.

Though I can use pretty much everything and preferred to mixed things up rather than using a lot of the same gun— like how I use a all 9 different equipment that I got to fight the whole 3-phase of Flagship...

The only time I've had 4 Burst Lasers Mk II was when I modded the Red Tail for Infinite Space (did not increase beginning Weapons Control, though). That was fun.

The only time I've had 3 BL Mk II and won (that I have record of) was my first Normal victory (7th overall); also had an Ion Blast. It was the Kestrel, I wasn't as good a player back then, so I only had Weapons maxed, though Shields were close at level 7, had L22 Reactor, L5 Engines, L2 Cloak, Teleporter, Medbay, Doors & O2, and didn't have Drone Control.

I have had 2 BL Mk II a fair amount, and I like the Halberd Beam with them, and a Small Bomb, too, if possible. Probably my favorite time was in the Fed A, where I bought a second Auto Reloader late in the game, and with that and having recently jumped from L2 to L4 Artillery Beam, I was slicing and dicing. Oh, 4th weapon was a practically superfluous Skiron Missiles that I found late.

Other than that, I like having at least two Crystal dudes for boarding. Three or more is great, because you beam into a room, say Weapons, kill the one guy, and three lockouts is probably enough to destroy the system.
Oh, sure lots of Mantises are fun, but they won't be having this dialogue with Security trying to get in: *pew pew* "Who is it?" "Security." "Just a minute, we're not ready."

I do like Fire Bombing a room and then dropping Rocks in. I don't recall having a Fire Beam with a Fire Bomb very often, though, and no record of winning with them. I think I have bad luck with the Fire Beam: when I have it or find it available, I don't want it; when I want it, it's nowhere to be found.

I get wet when i have 2 Halberd Beams. I don't really remember any particular combos, i tend to like middle of the road weapons. Not too fast and not to slow.

So let's see my best loadout. With the basilisk I had the 4 mantis to start with, then for weapons I had an ion bomb, a BL2 and a BL3. Pre igniter, 4 shields, full teleport, full sub systems, drones with defense drone mk1 (I don't like the mk 2 cause it will intercept the lasers and let the missiles through) and a hull repair drone. I was only missing that reloader augment for perfection... Obviously I only left one crewman alive in the mothership so it wouldn't go auto and start repairs of it's own on the weapon systems XD

The only time I had 2 Halberd beams I also had 2 Ion Blasts. Didn't work very well even then, because everybody I met had enough dodge to make getting their shields down a chore. I guess maybe a BL2 or 2 Dual lasers would do the trick, though it may take just as long as 2 ions with all the misses.

Give me 2 Pikes any day over 2 Halberds. Enough power left over to get those shields down and then 12-16 damage in one double-barreled swipe.

Actually... Ion bomb, ion blast, 2 halberds. Assuming the Ion Bomb hits, the blast should be able to take and keep down the shields (or at least the 3rd of 4) and then you Halberd away. That way, you only use 1 (or 2 if the first misses) bombs a battle.

Can't argue with that, and i love Pike Beams. But dual Halberds are so... crunchy. Esp. early on if you're lucky to have them.
