First encounter with Zoltan Cruiser, 1st map 1 st jump.
Drone ship with 1 shield, 1 dual laser, 1 ion bomb, 1 beam drone.
That bean drone toke my Zoltan shield down to 1 before my weap is half charged, the next barrage from dual laser and ion bomb toke out my shields and my weapons, yup that Halberd Beam that needs 17 sec to recharge is GONE.
Amazingly, the dual laser on that drone ships can cause fires!! Yes you read that right FIRES!! That beam drone looks like it's on steroids too. I can bet it has 2x drone speed active.
The fire engulf my weap room and next my engine room. My new Zoltan cruiser is Destroyed in her maiden jump....
Terrible balancing issue! Oh btw, it's on normal difficulty.
Is this normal?

Perfectly normal.
Not every game will end on the first jump but a couple are bound to. Happens to us all.
