The Anti-Bio beam

Post by Jerjare »

The Anti-Bio beam is an unconventional weapon that damages enemy crew. With it, you can cripple enemy ships by killing their crew. It has a couple of pros and cons:

Pros:
-Does INSTANT damage to crewmembers hit. This is significant because even if they are in a medbay you can still kill them.

-Range is long enough to hit 2 or 3 crew. Many enemy ships only have 2 crew, which are easy to kill off.

-Average power consumption (2) make it a decent support weapon.

Cons:
-Wont work if enemy shields are up. This limits it to being a support weapon since you need something else to lower their shields.

-Requires 2 hits to kill a crewmember (does 60? Damage) which means you often have to hit with it twice.

-Cannot solely kill the flagship or drone ships.

-Pricey compared to other, more versatile weapons (70 scrap)

In spite of this its a fun weapon, and a good way to get the scrap and fuel benefits of killing off enemy crews without the risk of a boarding party. Synergizes very well with fire beam and/or breach bombs for killing off crew. I only wish you could use it on your own ship to zap boarders!

I remember one time on a slug cruiser A run having another biobeam. Having 2 biobeams was PURE EVIL
Warp Drive or Hyperspace?
