How did you do well with the Stealth Ship? Its s*** in the early sectors, then you have to spend 150 scrap on shields, then you die because there was no scrap left to improve the terrible weapons.

The stealth ship actually starts off with one of the best weapon loudouts in the game -- the catch is just that you'll need to transition out of at least one of them by around sector 4 or 5 (Normal).madattak9 wrote:How did you do well with the Stealth Ship? Shoot lasers until shield is dropped, then beam 3-4 rooms. Rinse and repeat. Target weapon systems and drone control.
The secret for the stealth ship is to spend 30 scrap to get Lv 2 cloaking first. Timing your cloaking right (just as they fire their missile or worst laser) will get you through a ton of fights without damage.
Beam weapons/drones are the bane of your existence though.

Sorry for the thread hijack, I'll be brief:

Early game was all about cloak: upgrade to lvl 3 ASAP, and time a long cloak right as the enemy's biggest weapon (usually a missile) is about to fire. Using the lasers to down any shields and the beam to tear through the ship, most enemies go down in 1 or 2 rounds of fire, and I'd take only a few hits, if any. I got the 2 mantis very early and invested in a teleporter by Sector 3 or 4, so I could send a boarding party to kill enemy crews while my Halberd focused on keeping their weapons and medbay down (usually weapons would go down in the first round of fire right after my first cloak, meaning I'd take no hits). By late game I had tons of scrap for shields and engines, had acquired an Ion Bomb, and I THINK a Pre-Igniter too (I honestly don't remember, but with the Mantis, Cloak, and upgraded Shields/Engines it really would have been a convenience augment anyway). The Boss fight was a joke.

Played through with stealth on easy, got to stage 2 of the boss with glaive beam and Burstlaser III, but realised that was a bad idea after they got a shot through on my stealth and weapons and then it was a downwards spiral from there.asher1611 wrote:The stealth ship actually starts off with one of the best weapon loudouts in the game -- the catch is just that you'll need to transition out of at least one of them by around sector 4 or 5 (Normal).madattak9 wrote:How did you do well with the Stealth Ship? Surely on nomral the evade/shields go too high before you can do any upgrade?

I never upgrade my cloak on the stealth ship type A. I don't find that it is very helpful.madattak9 wrote: Played through with stealth on easy, got to stage 2 of the boss with glaive beam and Burstlaser III, but realised that was a bad idea after they got a shot through on my stealth and weapons and then it was a downwards spiral from there.

The stealth type A can handle going as far finishing sector 4 before it needs a weapon upgrade. Dual lasers are the best lasers in the game and all beams, yes even the mini beam, tear up ships fast. Get any multi shot laser and you can handle the entire game. A decent bomb also lets your starting weapons reliably rip up any ship you meet. Missiles are less reliable due to the occasional defence drone but work. It does not need anything more than the other ships. It has one of the best starting load outs in the game.

I think you didnt understand me. AI, and NPC generally, seem to have ~50% evade.mrguy888 wrote:I never upgrade my cloak on the stealth ship type A.
