I want to see a face to the "bad guys" . The generic rebels are ok in FTL but what this game needs is a real "bad guy" race. I'm talking about Antarans from MOO2 or the "Ur Quan Masters" from Star Control 2. A true bad guy race would give this game a little more flavor!
Secondly, I think an elliptical type galaxy where you start out in the approximate center and have the choice to move into sectors in a North, South, East, West fashion. Something like expanding concentric circles with perhaps it spiralling outwards. Add uncharted blackholes in a few spots for instant travel to farther parts of the galaxy.
Anyways, my 2 cents...Great game, I just got it this week!

The bad guys one would probably be doable quite easily, but the second one? Expansions rarely add a completely new feature, especially not one that large, mostly due to the fact that it completely changes the game, and expansions usually only add small features and- obviously- expand the game. It's a great idea, don't get me wrong, but changing the whole game and charging for it sounds like something EA would do. Then again, free DLC with these would be amazing!
