Plea: Spanish characters support (& other langs)

Hi, everyone!

I'm taking the task of making a mod to translate FTL to Spanish audience, as I made in the past with Alien Assault. Their experience opening the game to an array of new languages is having more gamers base... (Fact: their 25% forum traffic is from spanish origin. Heck! They had to open a spanish subforum!)

You should consider to give support to special characters: áéíóú ñ. (Well, now the game has them implemented, more or less).

These are the files I'm translating:

* achievements.xml (100% translated) partly support
autoblueprints.xml (100% translated)
* blueprints.xml (100% translated) (needs char. support)
* events_boss.xml (100% translated) (needs char. support)
* events_engi.xml (100% translated) (needs char. support)
* events_fuel.xml (needs char. support)
* events.xml (needs char. support)
* events_crystal.xml (needs char. support)
* events_mantis.xml (needs char. support)
* events_nebula.xml (needs char. support)
* events_pirate.xml (needs char. support)
* events_rebel.xml (needs char. support)
* events_rock.xml (needs char. support)
* events_ships.xml (needs char. support)
* events_slug.xml (needs char. support)
* events_zoltan.xml (needs char. support)
* nameEvents.xml (100% translated) (needs char. support)
names.xml (100% translated) (like María, José. Remember to include in next patch Kickstarters Chase Cagle and Steve Swink!!!)
* newEvents.xml (100% translated) (needs char. support)
sector_data.xml (100% translated) ¿needs support?
tooltips.xml (100% translated)

A few files show the special chars in the whole game. With achievements.xml there's a funny thing: it shows them in "main menu", but not when you earn the achievements playing, in game.

To make a quick work, I'm doing and saving the files with áéíóú ¡¿ ñ, leaving them as a copy. The originals have the characters quickly replaced with aeiou i (this last one as a cosmetic view).

I think I've seen a few things hardcoded that are impossible to translate (didn't find them in the files), such as a weapon/drone spreadsheet (maybe I'm wrong...).

And I don't know how hard it could be to implement that. But, Please? Please?? Matthew, Justin, could you do it??

One more thing... the ¿ is wrong in c&cnew.ttf !!! Needs to be mirrored!!! :mrgreen:

I find it very sad that the game developers do not bother to respond to a volunteer who can reach a lot more people that creation is based on a 80% reading.

Too bad that will not be translated into more languages​​, because I know there are more people like me who refuse to buy you the game.

Don't expect the game devs to respond on the forums.
They are busy people.
However, if you drop them an email, they will reply eventually.
I've *never* sent them an email that didn't get a responce.
So, that is the best way to bring something like this to their attention.
All ships I have created include custom weapons, graphics etc:

Partly true. The devs certainly keep an eye on the Tech-Support and Bugs forum. The rest gets less attention admittedly, but several requested features were added in updates.
