Seems like some XML got messed up in the repacking, which shouldn't happen.
What version of Java do you have installed?
Could you upload the repacked data.dat somewhere and PM me the link? I'd like to compare the file to the original and a data.dat I repacked myself. Thanks

If you've got Java installed, you should be able to just double-click on the .jar file, and FTL UnPacker should open. .jar is a compiled Java program.
Maybe i am stupid, but... how do i install/open it? It says nothing about it in readme. I downloaded the unpacker, unpacked it to desktop and there is a bunch of .class files. I have the ftldat or however that's called but i still don't know what to do. Please help
Me and my brother have both tried to mod ftl using this tool, I with a custom built desktop and he with a prebuilt Toshiba laptop. his worked fine, however mine comes up with the error cannot find file path specified. i have tried putting it in numerous locations and it just doesn't work. any suggestions gratefully recieved (java.io.EOFExeption)
Despite this topic being quite old, and author probably not bothering anymore...
If you have Windows 64-bit on your desktop computer, it is possible that the program is somehow unable to reach the paths.
In the meantime, I'd recommend using ftldat via command line, or KuroSaru's Dat Manager, if you crave a graphical interface.
It is not working. I am trying to unpack data.dat file but this program gives error (acces denied) or other errors when I try to unpack it to disc or folder.
I dont know maybe I dont need that programs All I want to do is to edit weapons stats/ prices ect. I found it in that data.dat file. I edited it but game crashes. I found out that I can only replace letters but cannot add or subtract any number or letter. For example when I want to edit 100 to 70 i must add space before 70 so game then dont crash. Les important is that I wanted to change description but I cant. If I add even 1 letter then game crash on start. How to bypass that ?
Yes I tried it and it is problematic too. Packing there is weird. Game crash. When I edit some xml then this program cannot put it back in correct place thats why game crash. Weird that nobody can make normal program that do things as they should be done. So there is no option to edit data without unpacking it to xml? Hmm then I cannot edit and put back to game those edited files. I tested 3 programs from this forum. That with command line I just didnt use because I dont like command line management so I dont know if that would work.
