Santa needs help

My son has asked Santa for tips on how to get the Mantis Cruiser. I (his mom) don't know anything about this game. Is there anything Santa could tell him? Thanks!!

Find the Mantis Homeworlds, have at least a Level 2 Medbay or Clone Bay and Level 2 Sensors.

Also be sure to have a way of reliably eliminating enemy crewmates (bombs, fire, teleporter, etc.)

Long Range Scanners (or a sector map from civilians or a mercenary) can also help, because the KazaaakplethKilik fight only happens on a beacon marked with a ship on it (and no asteroid field or sun). This makes it more likely to find the fight before the Rebel fleet advances too far, while avoiding beacons that couldn't possibly have it.

1. Have at least a level 2 medbay or any-level clonebay.
2. Have a mantis crewmember.
3. Have a reliable way of eliminating all enemy crew on a ship. (Anti-Bio, Extremely good boarding party, etc.)
4. Find mantis home worlds.
5. Get lucky.
Anything further would be a serious spoiler.

You don't need the Mantis. It's recommended for boarding operations but it shouldn't be listed as a requirement.

Also, we should add that you can unlock the Mantis Cruiser by beating the game with the Zoltan Cruiser.
