Any Multiplayer Community Project/Mod in progress ?

Sup space travellers !

So, I guess Multiplayer for FTL has already been suggested hundreds of times, and I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere devs weren't planning to implement it, amiright ?

But does any of you know if any Multiplayer community mod is being worked on ? It would be pretty daym nice. Anyway, if anyone with modding knowledges has some time to lose, here's an idea for a cool FTL multiplayer experience :

MP race mod, 2 to 8 players in the same randomly generated universe, first one to reach the flagship wins the race. You could see the other players' ship if they're on a beacon linked to yours (just like distress & stores), further if you've upgraded your sensors.
You can decide to fight another player if you're on the same beacon, trying to slow them or simply destroy them, or hurt them to force a surrender fee.
If you travel to a beacon where a player is already fighting an AI ship (or another player), you can either wait for your FTL to charge, or wait for the end of the fight to attack anyone remaining.
"Floating" ressources and gears are a one time thing, 2 players can't find the same stuff on 1 beacon.
A twist : The rebel fleet moves FOR EVERYONE and AT THE SAME SPEED, every time a player travels to the his next beacon ; but it moves 1/3 of its original speed.

The rest is just like normal FTL, but you need to think & act faster. That would be very kewl, but yeah... we can all have dreams ;o

I think that that would be realy cool. If only someone get it working though...
