I was thinking about how to expand the game, add more variety etc, and larger ships and an idea came to me.
After you defeat the rebel flagship, the game doesn't end. You're given a battlecruiser/ battleship by the Federation command and your new goal is to push from Sector 8 -> Sector 1 and ridding the sectors of the rebel scum.
I was thinking that the Battlecruiser/ battleships could have crews of around 30 and are massive with maybe 8 weapon slots etc. but that the game scales to compensate.
On your way back, all races have larger ships such as Mantis Battleship, Slug Battlecruiser, Rebel Battleships, etc. that you can unlock through special ways as well. Mantis boarding parties could have up to 15 Mantis-men etc.
After you get to sector 1, there could be another boss fight to end that game.
What do you think?

That sounds like a really good idea.
Why just read about the tides of battle turning when you can lead that comeback!?

Exactly, and it also adds more length to the gameAlex wrote:That sounds like a really good idea.

Funfact: Federation dreadnoughts do exist, See: The "You find a number of Federation forward carriers and dreadnoughts" event, which you get in the final sector.
Insert something witty and humorous here.

Mm so maybe you could be given one of them, either a carrier or a dreadnought.... maybe even a choice. So you can choose your playstyle before the push against the rebels.blaeron wrote:Funfact: Federation dreadnoughts do exist, See: The "You find a number of Federation forward carriers and dreadnoughts" event, which you get in the final sector.

Or, perhaps, it functions as a second game mode you have to unlock through victory- a more complex game with larger ships, as you lead the charge through rebel-held space.

That could work too. Pretty much just the idea of pushing back the rebels with larger ships etc. Either through an alternate game mode after defeating the flagship, or as a simple continuation after the flagship.apostateCourier wrote:Or, perhaps, it functions as a second game mode you have to unlock through victory- a more complex game with larger ships, as you lead the charge through rebel-held space.

Really love the idea of having massive ships with 30 crew!
Could be difficult to see what's happening though, everything would have to be made smaller to fit on the screen.
Would still be awesome though. This combined with a star treck mod would be epic.
I also really want a millennium falcon mod for the standard game

Haha, I remember there being similar suggestions about GSB... but there never was a Star Trek or Star Wars GSB.

I'd love to just see a "restart+"-type thingy in which the restart button after defeating the flagship restarts the game with your current upgrades.
Should be fairly easy to implement and would -in my opinion at least- add a lot to the game.
