Well the slug fighter is turned down by Sleeper Service. I made a PM about it and there is no response. Perhaps I suck at asking or I somehow failed to PM but either way rockman if you want to forward it to him then go ahead.

Anyway. I made a little art with it.

Sorry, I'm kind of short on Internet right now. The overall design is pretty cool and fitting, but the lighting on the front needs some work IMO. Also the side parts don connect too well to the main body. I appreciate your effort very much, but I start to run out of ship classes that actually could use the hull. The Slugs could get a fighter class to make room for the hull I guess... Yeah, sorry for not responding immediately, I got distracted by a lot of other stuff when I had time online.

It is still a very cool ship and seeing it in an ion storm I can tell it is a fitting slug ship. Perhaps if you curved the side sections to make them look more like they were attached to the rest of the hull and fixed the lighting in front a bit it would look genuine enough?

That is why I don't even try making ship mods :lol: There is no way I could make them look right.

I like the Slug ship but I REALLY like the Lanius design. I think it is very promising and unique because of the upright position of the blades. I would work on that one for a while if you have time because we could really use another Lanius ship.

So I heard, I just saw a spike in your activity and assumed the problem was resolved.

I will work on the ships a bit. But I am a bit restrained by how far should I fix it and how much should I leave it at the vanilla stage. The Slug ship at the moment is the oldest ships in FTL without an update (closely followed by the Kestrel and stealth cruiser) and this does leave the slugs ships in vanilla to be a bit poor in quality.

I've noticed while splicing them that some parts are uneven and are not symmetrical as well as some weird shading effects. This is the problem as my reference from the front was from a ship off a similar front design the slug interceptor.

Anyway I do not want you to feel pressured to use my ships sleeper and I do apologies for keep spewing out ships and asking if you want to integrate it.

I am working out the kinks on the lanius ship (may have to start it over) and I am eventually planning to make my first freehand ship that'll be a zoltan ship. (well could use a bit off splicing but sadly most off it has to be unique to look unique)

I just reskinned the "Vintage Rebel Rigger" and "Vintage Rebel Fighter" into a updated colour scheme WITH rebel cannon accurate markings. (in terms of stripes width, shape, location, etc. Pay attention to the 4 vanilla rebel ships, they all have the same kinda marking scheme. while federation follow differently . ;) )


Yet again I have no idea if this is going to be a CE thing or not because I do not assume the vintage ships will be common and I doubt these will be more or less common in CE and me randomly spewing ships that are too similar to each other will not really work so well for Sleeper as he's the poor lad that has to make it into a ship then do the coding for it and events and such. I'm personally doing this just for the fun of it and for anyone to use.

As usual every hull I make I do plan on using. I am going to release a Rebel Rigger and Rebel Fighter soon as player ships. Then later on I will work on the Slug Fighter for player ships. I already got 1 off the 3 finished but I need to make some weapons first.

On the Slug player cruiser the overlapping hull parts throw clear shadows and show that they are actually overlapping. But on your ship the rear slides under the wing hull-parts, while the front of the wings is at the same hight, the wing is there only separated by the green "gel channel" (or whatever purpose those serve).
IMO that could be solved by havint the gel channel lead all the way to the end of the wing and turn the wing section onto one big hull part that is level with the main body. That is also how the other enemy slug ships are designed, several hull parts that are level with each other, only divided by those channels and round at the edges. I don't know, I feel like I'm nitpicking a lot, but IMO thats what the ship is missing to be on par with vanilla designs. The rest is good already.

Yeah, I'm kind of lacking ships to give those designs to, but the question also is if the "Fed" vintage style really works with the player. The other vintage style of course implies much clearer than anything else in the game that the Rebs are actual a Fed-breakaway faction. While the new yellow design does not add that little lore piece. Some people also won't assume that the Fed design on Rebels is there for a purpose (old ship designs from the early times of the Rebellion that haven't been refit with rebel colors yet, while the normal vanilla Rebel ships are Rebel build in the first place). This part of the audience would probably find the yellow design more fitting...
I don't know, I have two ships for the vintage hulls right now, so I could fit in both designs. But they have to match the existing vintage designs image size and position. You'd have to put those colors and marks on the existing vintage base and gib images for them to be usable without more reworks on my side...

You are right. Those gel channels going all the way would make it better. I will add that soon.
And if you want the rebel coloured vintage ships I will make them to exact specs off size as the normal ones.

I am also wondering if you have any possible requests for me to make something? I mean you do know what would fit into your mod best and there is the fact you also know what classes and stuff are left in CE for me to make a ship of.



Also awhile ago I was thinking of this cool event thing that could happen in empty sectors. something to go along the lines of a high level clone bay and possible an augment that allows you to swap one of your crew into another race of choice. This wasn't exactly a CE idea at first, just something awesome I randomly though up. But then I realized the implications in terms of when to use it and I discovered empty beacons would be a good place... would also be nice for empty beacons to pop up then realized It's basically just like a CE empty beacon. Not asking for it to be in CE. it was just a random think I wanted to bring up.

A little bit of an update on that ship I put here a couple pages back. I've now fleshed out the interior and added a floor and cloak image(Not pictured here). All credit to splette for that amazing shield image I plucked from his mod, High Res Shields. I will remove the image if he tells me not to use it.

Both negative and positive feedback is appreciated, especially on the floor image. I'm not sure if I quite like it, but I'll leave it there if enough people do.

I love small ships. This one looks very nice. The floor plan is good. The hull image, as far as I can see seems to bright.

Does it have 4 weapons? If so it seems great for fast attacks.

No drone control? Guess that would make it OP. I would change the mind control for that.
