I think the game wants you to use those two Zoltans as suicide bombers. At least until you get a second Mantis.

The ship would be better if it had a Backup DNA Bank, because really the ship just sucks overall.

Nah, Fed C you do Mantis/Zoltan first wave and Human/Zoltan second wave. A Zoltan only matches/exceeds a human's damage if it explodes on 2 or more people. Also that way you don't waste one of the Zoltan's power when using a lvl1 teleporter.

I had my first "successful" run with the Fed C.
Reached sect 5 and clicked 'Hangar' upon seeing the ONLY route to the exit was through a Sun.

First upgrade was shields. 2nd was Engines up to Level 4. The game gave me a Long Ranged scanner early on and I bought a Zoltan Shield Bypass
There were some pretty lucky RNGs like a 3 shield Zoltan ship attacking unknown vessel. I barely survived with about 4 hull left then the rescued ship patched up 15 pts of my hull. After the said battle and still no decent weapons sold in all store, 4 sects, I upgraded my Flak to Level 4. I badly needed an egde since there was no other way to disable medbays.
The game wasn't giving me any other weapons aside from a crappy Hermes which I sold to get cloaking.
It's a shame that there are no other slots available on the system. A defense drone or something equivalent like Rock plating might make this ship acceptable but that one and only slot should be reserved for cloaking.

At the time I quit there was a Zoltan ship with 3 shields, upgraded doors and a medbay. First Flak did about 2 damage. 2nd flak I had never seen so many misses in my life.

By sector 5 I had 2 shields, 4 engines, level 4 Flak, 8 crew members and NO WEAPONS.
I might have made it up to 7 but this looks like it would have no chance against the flagship anyway.


Oh forgot to say, my main boarding party was Mantis/Human until sect 4 when I got a 2nd mantis.
I think human endurance > tiny amount of damage from exploding Zoltan.

Nothing wrong with Hermes to take out Medbays. Nice fast charge time and does exactly 3 damage, so can take out lvl 3 medbays.

Except for the part where it uses missiles and when it's under your control, the first four letters of the weapon type are common.

Bump.

Just finished got a victory on the Fed C on Hard getting my highest score ever of 5192. Forgot to take a screenshot but oh well. It's in my high scores at least.


I don't know what to say. I guess the "strategy" I used was getting lucky enough to get a small bomb (which is EXACTLY what the ship needed in the first place) and a Charge Laser. Killed AI by boarding. Was lucky enough NOT to encounter an AI with 2 drones.
A lot of time was spent getting the enemy crew to chase my boarders until the stupid artillery fired.

Pretty much survived with just the Mantis and Human as my main boarding party.
Managed to obtain another Human early on which I cycled with the other getting my Mantis to die first and having the reserve human ready in the teleporter.

I was fortunate enough to get Kazaaa (for the first time ever!! ) in Sect 5 and boarding was smooth sailing from there on.

For the Flagship, Teleported the boarders into the Ion and Beam rooms and disabled those and pretty much Wait for the Artillery, Fire weapons. Wait for Artillery...
Weapons were Small bomb, Hull Laser I, Flak I.
Small bomb was used on the cloaking once and on the missles room when guys went in to repair.

The 3rd form was pretty much hope to shit my mantis doesn't get hypnotized and do the same thing. That said, my mantis was hypnotized so I had to sacrifice my other mantis to keep him distracted. Better than getting the pilot Hypnotized at least. I'm finally seeing the advantage of having a clone bay.
