There are 2 types of video games: The Fun and the Compulsive.

This one is compulsive. And whomever made it is a very cruel person.

Easy is boring all the way until the final boss, where it goes from boring to frustrating and the whole thing becomes a huge set of diceroll: If he hits the wrong stuff, you're screwed, if not, you kill him. And there is NOTHING you can do about it. (yes, I have lvl 4 shields, upgraded engine, defense drone and an anti-drone, super blast doors, I went when I can and all that, thank you very much)

Normal is simply impossible. I refuse to believe that it can be done. Anyone who says that it can be done is part of a huuuuuge conspiracy against ME, trying to mock my gaming skills and say that "with more skill you can do it".

Seriously though, I fail to see where skill is in this game, if I could just pick whatever I want onto my ship than maybe, but the way it is I just take what I can and pray that the 5th merchant will not try and sell me another FTL booster. Especially the way I stopped popping up anything semi-risky if there isn't a blue option anymore: Just keep blowing up ships and keep praying that the merchant will give something decent.

A secret cabal of sorcerers dating back to the 9th century gathered in front of a set of stone tablets and said "Let us make a Rogue-like-like computer game about spaceships absolutely difficult to play. We'll lure in unsuspecting saps with Easy mode which is either hit or miss. Then we'll make an exclusive difficulty to which only a select few can accomplish."
"But Grand Sorcerer, who are these select few? Also, incidentally this is the 9th century. What's a Rogue-like-like computer game anyway?"
"Well most certainly not that Vajrajina person! They're definitely not going to be allowed to win at Normal. In fact everyone but Vajrajina can beat Normal! At least not until they figure out this conspiracy"
"Grand Sorcerer, what about Hard difficulty?"
"Ah quite right there Lord Jenkins! Only those who are within our circle can be allowed to win on Hard. That would be you, me and everyone else in this room right at this moment"

The only reason I know all this? My ancestors were the pizza delivery guys. They were sworn to secrecy, only to give out the secret to those who figured it all out.
And now that you know, you are now part of this circle. You should be able to defeat Normal. Go see the Crystal B or the Lanius B for your path to victory.

Oh and invest in Mind Control or Hacking.
