The kestrel (and gibs) can be extracted from the Cassowary I made over the weekend. Not that I'm advertising it or anything. :lol:

Updated to version 0.7, with hull image pools for the three ships.

@stylesrj : I'll check out your images, thanks for posting them. ;)

Updated to version 0.8, with a randomized rock cruiser. It has pools representing the B and C configurations, and I also added a fire starting build based on a few lasers for breaking shields along with a fire starting weapon (beam or plasma thrower for the CE build).

Thanks to stylesrj for providing kestral images.

Changelog 0.8:
* Added a randomized rock A cruiser, with assets based on B and C as well.
* Some bug fixes.

Based on just the screenshots, I'm really loving all the recolors of the ships you've done so far. I also love the symmetry of the layouts on the Rock ships. It's just like the symmetry they had in vanilla.

It's only occurring to me just how difficult it would be to create a random Slug ship, given the extremely strange ways that each of them operate.. A random Fed cruiser doesn't seem like it would make much sense to make either, unless you could randomise the artillery weapon.

Which actually sounds like a silly but workable idea now I think about it.

Already have some ideas for the random slug, specfically how to handle the no medbay build (heal bomb with/wo teleporter or reconstructive teleporter). The A/C builds are not an issue (mix of AP weapons / random sub system generation).

I actually like the idea of adding random artillery weapons for the fed ship... but this will reuire some thought since this is a more 'radical' change to the starting ship.

The Randjucator should be fairly easy--just ion weapons and beams, with optional low reactor power.
Not too sure what you could do with the mantis cruisers, since they're boarding focused, and all you could really change is layout and the one starting bomb. I also don't have any ideas on the lanius cruisers, or the crystal ones...

I agree that the Randjucator is simple.
The Manti ships will be interesting, I can play around with the teleporters + medbay/clonebay + healing bomb configurations. I might also add builds which are not focused on boarding, based on the style of CE's minelayer. Another option is a drone boarding build.

Lanius aren't an issue, they will be focused less on the vanilla content and more on AE.
Crystals are more of an issue, since they are limited weapon-wise. I'll probably go for crystal/laser or crystal/ion builds. Maybe a drone build, if someone would be interested in making some crystal drones ?
