I've kinda been wondering how to name my ships, so I've come to think of a few options for each.
Kestrel/Federation Cruiser/Stealth Cruiser - GFF or UFF (Galactic/United Federation Fleet)
Engi Cruiser - EHMS (Engi Hive Mind Ship)
Zoltan Cruiser - ZRF (Zoltan Republic Fleet)
Mantis Cruiser - MHV (Mantis Hunting Vessel) or MW (Mantis Warship)
Slug Cruiser - None. The Slugs seem rather scattered and any designation would probably be varied between powerful Slugs
Rock Cruiser - RRF (Royal Rock Fleet)
Lanius Cruiser - They're scavengers.
Also curious on what names you people use for your ships.

I like the ship names idea, surprised I haven't seen that pop up before.
As for the people, I generally don't have any reference point for naming them, I usually go with what they were generated as. Maybe someone less lazy than I could go through and play FTL a bunch and make a database of names that are generated for races.
