WTF plasma storm

I just bought this game and it is very fun but for some reason I broke it or am stupid.

So on a couple occasions during Easy mode with a kestrel, I go into dreaded plasma storm.
There is no damage to my ship, all systems and subsystems are working, all doors closed, I have a guy manning the cockpit pilot thing and basically there's nothing wrong with my ship. But I cannot FTL jump out and the oxygen always starts decreasing even though O2 systems are powered. I have no idea what to do; I then try to route all power out of my systems in hopes of doing something to get out but I still can't get out of this goddamn plasma storm!
Oxygen drops to 0%, everybody dies, THE END.

I missed a key point in how to play this game. Help please

Plasma storms lock up your power, not damage your ship. In a plasma storm you have a small pool of power to use on your systems; it probably de-powered your life support and engines without you noticing.

If you checked and it was green, you might have had some graphics glitch or something.

It was a graphics glitch as you said and after a couple clicks I got the game working again on my recent test-plasma storm.

You might want to submit a bug report and try to grab some screenshots of it in action.
