Additional game mode I'd like to see

Picked up the game and love it, already sunk more time into it then I'd care to admit. However I would love to see a new infinite mode added, perhaps via a mod. Remove the encroaching fleet/final boss elements in favor of a free roam space trading/mercenary mode with no particular "end", just however long you can keep yourself alive. Allow you to go to any sector you want whenever you want to ferry goods around, go pirating or take up merc contracts. Would need a lot more features and events added, but I feel such a game mode would be extremely fun.

The game as it is is really well done and enjoyable, it's just a bit to linear and it seems like the mechanics and ideas in it would really shine if the scope of the game were expanded to focus more on a free roaming experience and less on the canned story.

Trading? what would you trade, there's no commodities.

i wouldn't mind an endless mode, or a mode without rebel on your ass so you can fully explore the sectors, but once you're ship is fully upgraded, there's not much to do.
