For people playing the Humble Bundle (or GOG) version: are the new versions announced somewhere? I couldn't find a place. I could download the Humble Bundle version regularly, run the game and check if a new version number is displayed, but looking at an announcement (thread) would be a bit easier. Can someone point me to the place of such announcements, if available? And what version is the most recent one, still 1.5.10?

I own it on GoG (and on Steam but that's another story) and the only place those are "announced" is on the website itself. If you go to gog.com and log in, it'll say "updated (#)" on the top and that number is the number of games you have downloaded an older version for.

On Humble Bundle, it just tells the date of the last update, currently 16th April 2014, which is v1.5.10 - if you forget when you downloaded your last version, you still have to download and install to make sure you run the latest patched version. It's slightly disappointing there are no formal announcements for the updates.
