I find the med bay and the clone bay to be about equal. Med bay let's you fight guys inside of it, and heal after every encounter. Clone bay is less micromanagement to heal everyone, although it's not to full health every jump. Also, it let's you teleport guys faster, for the small teleporters, since you don't have guys coming back from the enemy ship, putting it on cooldown. As far as blue options, they're about equal. Some only work with med bay, some with clone bay. Although to be honest, one of the ones that perma-kills your guy with the clone bay, made me shout at my computer, "I don't care if the memories of that death would haunt you forever! Get back to work, you lazy corpse!" :)

I love the ability to save crewmember positions. It is a lot easier to hit enter and watch your crew scurry back to their stations rather than doing it one by one, especially in the middle of a battle.

It was also thoughtful to include the ability to toggle the 'advanced' mode on or off. Players who dislike the new features can remove them from their games.

And you can never, ever go wrong with new ships. Well done, FTL team.

While I also wanted some very small buffs to these ships, they are far from broken and their existence in the game is fine. Good players will still win very consistently with them. They've also both had some subtle buffs:

Stores carry more stuff now, giving you more chances to find required elements (e.g., another weapon for the Engi B). They also have more diversity of options, so you can e.g. pick up Hacking to still be relevant if you don't find something else. The Zoltan Bomber ship layout - the worst thing the Stealth B could face early - no longer appears in Sector 1. Shields are also now cheaper to buy, so the Stealth B will be able to afford them more easily.

To clarify here, Flak 2 actually has a very large cooldown - 21 seconds. This is the 3rd highest cooldown in the game (or 4th if you count the Vulcan's full charge time). It's also very inaccurate, and will generally only hit with ~5 of those 7 shots (before enemy evasion is taken into account). It's a fine weapon, but it's not crazy OP or anything.

Late to the party, but i'm absolutely loving the AE.

The little quality of life everywhere are very enjoyable. Crew stations save is great, iconification of miss/drone/scrap takes a couple games to get used to but is lovely afterwards, beam room highlight is *very* nice, and i enjoy a lot the star system connections appearing on mouseover. Sure, it makes it a bit easier, removing the dead-end forcing you back into the rebel fleet, but i find it makes me think a bit more about my travel plans through sectors, rather than thinking "well, i have no idea how they are connected anyway".

The additional hardware adds a lot of variety. Hacking/mind control AI-side can easily throw a wrench into your plans and it's a bit more difficult to plan for everything. The Last Stand in particular gains a lot from these two modules. Didn't fool around with clones yet but looking forward to it. The new weapons open some new synergies: i scored a chain Vulcan Laser on an Zoltan A and the Vulcan/Halberd combo was a dream, with the bonus of the Zoltan shield to help resisting the Gatling charge buildup.

With the new sectors, events and the Lanius, i've still got plenty to enjoy. I'd have easily paid a fiver for all that stuff. Big thanks to the devs.

I have had the pleasure of playing with weapons pre-igniter with the following 8 bar weapon combinations:

flak2 + glaive: amazing, totally op as long as you dont get very unlucky hit by anything to the weapons system early on. Only thing where you even really need to reload before enemy has most of its systems down is the last boss phase. (due to zoltan shields). I got this with stealth b

vulcan + glaive. not quite as amazing because even the weapons preigniter only gets the vulcan ready for its first shot so you have to endure a while before you can get any 4-shield layer ship down. I had this with engi b out of all things.

flak 2 + vulcan well you get first shot off to the shields after hitting with the flak but still have to work for it a while.

Actually I am very much looking forward to getting either a dual vulcan, or dual flak 2 run, that would be sooooooo nice :) dual glaive would maybe be fun too with hacking or something to disable the shields.

all in all this is a pretty horrid game and not even worth the money or the time, very little thought put in it and even less playthroughs/testing

so brb on my 20th death in which i visited 4 shops with 200 scrap without finding absolutely anything worthy and then i met an enemy with 3 shield (vs my 1) in an asteroid field and well even if i had 4 shield the ship was filled with rockets + hacked my weapons from the start (which doesnt seem to happen on normal , just on hard) so yeah absolutely nothing you can do (and i consider myself an experienced player now caus ive been playing it for awhile) in half of your playthroughs and in the other half you can survive the current moment at a great cost and die later and you'll only win when you get lucky enough for better encounters/shops/weapons

not even gonna start on the horrible miss chance, charge a rocket 20 seconds and miss 3 times in a row cause why not

edit 2min later: just started a new game, missed 9 out of 9 shots against a ship with missiles on my first sector jump, oh yeah restart button here i come

Just a friendly reminder not to feed trolls.

But in response to the one before that. I had flak2+vulcan+dual lazors on my last playthru and it was absolute gold... Oh yeah, i had a pre-igniter and cloak too.
The only problem was phase 1 flagship. It hacked my weapons, and my flak 2 never could get a single shot off until i damaged their cloakin bay via releated mcs in that room. And my vulcan+dual could never quite damage the ship begween cloak/hack.. Knock down four shields then maddeningly stall there.

Dual flak2 would not be cool imo, and dual vulcan, while fun sounding, would be neutered by any weapons damage, and would start too slow to guarantee you wont take any. You better have cloaking shoot augment though if you get cloak!

I wonder how reliably dual vulcans kill enemy drones... I imagine they get shot down quite often...
