Love this game, also hate it.

Post by Amosite »

Hey.

This game is by far one of the best games I have played, I have sunk many hours into playing it,
But one thing that ALWAYS catches me, is that Rebel Flagship.

I mean, Its almost impossible! It may be the way I play, as I suck.
I always use the Kestrel as the Torus kind of sucks, I get it to the second stage, Cannot get through its shields, I die lol.
I can never find any better guns in my store so Im always stuck with this burst laser II and missile system, which is the main thing for screwing me over.

I want that ship you get for completing the game but, Meh, so close, but yet so far.
I usually ragequit when stupidly bad things happen, like first sector, jump once, "hey, our ship has been damaged, don't mind if we take yours?" then 5 people jump onto your ship, I mean, What?
I continue playing again in around 5 minutes lol.

Anyway if anybody can help me with some tactics of taking that damn flagship down,

I always get shield to 3 blobs, cloaking to max, engines up halfway, and even with 40% base dodge rating with expert driver and engineguy I always get destroyed. That cloak has a long cooldown.

My people (if they survive) are ALWAYS expert by the time they get there, but I always die. Its like its almost impossible.

SO yeah, anybody can help me, will be greatly appreciated. I suck at this game, big time.

Thanks in advance.

its 60% luck [A.K.A you found all the right gear before the boss] and 40% skill. Maybe even 70-30.
You just have to keep playing untill you get that "perfect" run where everything went right and you're decked out for the boss fight.
Of course, if you are "terrible" at the game- then all the gear in the world wont help you win, But i don't think you're that bad.
In a nutshell, Yeah. your experiance is pretty much everyone elses, don't worry about it.

I really don't think the Torus suck...

Indeed I feel it's a lot easier to play with Torus that to play with Kestrel. You only need to get another Ion gun like the starting one and that's all, one targeting his shields and one targeting his weapons and your anti-ship drone will do the rest. The only problem cames with boarding parties but even then if you have power on your med-bay you slowly regen life in any room of the ship. I've won that Rebel ship with two Ion guns (3 energy, 4 seconds cooldown) a fire-bomb and 3 drones (2 anti-ship, 1 beam drone).

And the second stage IMO is really more difficult than third stage. I'll recommend you to heal your ship after stage 1. Cause It's drone swarms are really fucking awesome. But seriosly the best weapon in the game Is that Ion gun :D

My best run so far was in the Torus. Two ion cannon + fire bomb + two anti-ship drone I + defense drone II. I got through his first two stages, but was in the red on my hull and he took the base before I could find a repair base. I should have repaired right after the first battle. I also should have payed more attention to whether or not all my drones were up. I have no doubt that the Torus is perfectly able to take him down, and with my play-style it is probably better than the kestrel.

Ion Bombs seriously make the boss fight kind of easy. As well as the weapon primer. I love jumping into fights and INSTANTLY dropping an Ion bomb on their shields.

It's almost certainly the way you play, though I doubt you actually suck.

The second part of the final boss fight revolves around two things, really, that you need to have. One is some sort of shield-penetrating weapon, be it a missile launcher or a bomb. Ion and fire bombs are the best for this. Target the flagship's Drone Bay and you've knocked out the majority of its firepower. The other is a teleporter and a couple close-combat specialists; teleporting onto the enemy ship is a great way to bypass its defenses.
