All,
Just found this game and trying to learn.
1) How do you equip drones? I have 2 drones in my possession but I have no clue what to do with them. I notice there are drone parts as well.
2) I just found a weapon that says it does 2x damage to a room without a system in them. What is a system? I assume it means the rooms with symbols on them. If that is the case, what good is the weapon if it doesn't destroy anything?

Hi, welcome to the forum.
1) You need to buy a Drone Control system, then you can use drones.
2) A weapon like the Hull Smasher Laser is optimized for cutting through hull, which is why it does double on empty rooms, but if you hit a room with a system (yes, rooms with the symbols), it will do its base damage.

Drones require you to have drone control system. It would be in the bottom right hand side of your heads up display. It would have slots just like your weapons system. If you don't have that then you can't equip drones.
It's easier to explain in the opposite manner. A room without a system will be just an empty white rectangle. Any room with a system will have other stuff in it. The weapon may not being taking a system offline when it hits an empty room but you're doing twice the hull damage and killing the whole ship faster.

The drones are dragged into drone slots, which are located in the horizontal bar under the weapon slots. It's currently unavailable to you because you don't have a drone system, which can only be gotten by buying it at random stores for 80 scrap (unless the ship already comes with the system, that is).
