Hey guys.
I realize it's pretty bare bones over here. I'm considering adding a number of sub forums to keep things organized (working with the assumption that there will be more traffic post release). Any thoughts on what subforums should be a priority?
I'll probably unlock the replying to the news section and actually post news/updates there.
Maybe a forum for best stories/storytelling?
Maybe one for strategies or is that what 'discussion' is for?
I kinda want to quarantine all of the 'suggestion' and 'bug' reports as well, but am reluctant since we really just want people to use get satisfaction for those and having its own forum would encourage it being posted there instead.
Any thoughts?

Re: Question about improvements to the forum
Honestly, the other other forums needed besides Discussion are ones for Bug Reports, Suggestions, and one for RP/Storytelling. Once the game is released, there really is no need for GetSatisfaction anymore, as that is more for alpha and pre-release testing. The fact is, once the game is out to the general masses, not everyone is going to want to bother going anywhere else besides the Main FTL Forums for their ideas and complaints.

Make a bug/suggestion subforum. Lock it for new posts/threadsJustin wrote: I kinda want to quarantine all of the 'suggestion' and 'bug' reports as well, but am reluctant since we really just want people to use get satisfaction for those and having its own forum would encourage it being posted there instead.

Re: Question about improvements to the forum
GetSatisfaction will continue to be encouraged for post release, and it already will pop up on some google searches for FTL problems. The benefit of GetSatisfaction is it does a quick search when you post, so people can come across the same question/solution. This way you don't see "why didn't you use the search function!?!?!?!" like you do on forums, and save everyone time. Its tracking system also makes it much easier for us to track who has been talked to / helped as we try to manage customer service with just two of us. While we might add a Support forum, it's sticky would still be encouraging GetSatisfaction for all your support needs
....and I sound like a GetSatisfaction sales person.

Re: Question about improvements to the forum
So make a bugs subforum and lock it as suggested, and just have one topic with a link to getsatisfaction in it.
In all seriousness, though, there should at least be a link to your getsatisfaction page from the ftl home site (post-launch).

Re: Question about improvements to the forum
Hah, as a long-time forum goer, I've oft wondered about a world where using the search button us enforced. What a breath of fresh air to hear about getsatisfaction.com being used for that very purpose.
I'll probably steer clear of forums for awhile post-release: I've spoiled myself on the game enough already.

Re: Question about improvements to the forum
I'd say several new forums:
Suggestions/New ideas
Tutorials/Guides
Mods/Player made content
Storytelling/RP

Storytelling/RP
I always have this great idea to post about when reading a thread, but I always seem to loose the subject while writing a reply, and end up not saying anything at all. I should sleep more. Is that a cookie?
