Ship upgrades auto accepted, bug?

I enter some upgrades for the ship, then go to check my inventory and weapons config or the crew, when i return those points are permanently spent even though i did not press accept. That this happens is misleading and could kill someone's 5 hour game if they didn't know this happened.

Also I think in the upgrade screen, pressing Escape will accept the changes.
