A few questions.
I read the FAQ but it didn't answer them so How many times will i beable to download FTL after I have bought it? and will I beable to play it without using steam? This seemed like the most appropriate place to ask since there not technical questions sorry if this is the wrong place.

Re: A few questions.
There are three choices when purchasing FTL.
The website: http://www.ftlgame.com/ (via https://www.humblebundle.com/)
After purchasing, downloading instructions along with a login will be sent to the email addres provided. You will be able to login and download the game an infinite amount of times and are allowed to install the game on all computers you own. No DRM is used. Versions for PC, Mac and Linux are available. Any future updates/patches will be available as well. If you lose the original email, use this website to get a new key: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/keyresender.
- Included with this purchase is a Steam activation key which will allow you to add FTL to your Steam account in addition to all of the above.
Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/212680/
Similar to the above except you need to use your Steam app to download and play the game. Unless this option is disabled by you, Steam offers autoupdates and couldsync. PC, Mac and Linux versions are available. I don't know if there are any download/install restrictions, probably not. The game is added to your Steam account forever so logging in should be all you need. I don't know if FTL can be run outside Steam, maybe someone who knows can clarify.
GoG: http://www.gog.com/game/faster_than_light
After completing the purchase, FTL will be added to your games collection with download links for the latest version. Any new updates will appear below along with some freebies GoG offers (avatars, wallpapers and such). Only PC and Mac versions are offered right now, but a Linux version may appear in the future. If it does, Linux download links will be added to the game page. You may download an infinite amount of times and install FTL on all computers you own. No DRM.
NOTE - With the exception of the Steam key you get when buying from the website, these three options are mutually exclusive. You won't be able to add FTL to your Steam account if you buy from GoG and vice-versa.
The choice of where to buy should be down to the best price you can find. The game is exactly the same.
Arguably the website offers the best deal because you get PC, Mac and Linux versions DRM-free forever and you can add it on Steam as well.
Happy FTL-ing.
