In my experience, it seems that one Ion damage equals one bar of energy. I figured this out because I placed an Ion Bomb (4 Ion damage) on the Rebel Flagship shield (level 4, so eight bars), and took out two levels of shield.

This is correct. However it isn't exactly damage, the bar of energy will be locked out for a short time. Dump enough Ion shots into a system and you can keep it down constantly because it cannot recover before the next shot hits.SgtFrog wrote:In my experience, it seems that one Ion damage equals one bar of energy.
