Ideas for Future Update OR possible FTL 2

I'm new to the forums and i really love the game. So far i learned that this place doesn't take to kindly to multiplayer suggestions so please do not flame me for the multiplayer suggestions i do have.

This game has so much room for potential. it would be a shame of the developers just left it how it is. there are a lot of cool things they could do with what they have.

one of them, constructive criticism please, is Multiplayer. Im not talking about co-op, but straight on pvp. I know what your thinking, this game doesn't look like it can support multiplayer, BUT look at it a little deeper. the way the AI works seems to be exactly like another player, so why cant it be 1v1 battles? so here is my main idea

CONQUEST MODE

The idea of conquest mode is 2 Empires fighting each other in a semi-turn based game with mostly similar combat as the base game. The first person to destroy/capture the other players home world wins.

There are 3 sectors. Blue (Left) No-mans Land (Middle) and Red (Right)

each player gets to choose a Race and they start out with a large amount of scrap and have to build a fleet.
When both players are done with building their fleet they may place up to 3 ships in each "Node" or Planet in their Sector.

when the game starts each player takes turns moving a ship (or group of ships on a single node). When the opposing forces run into each other, combat starts.

Combat would have to work a little differently then in the normal game. Combat would be similar but with a key difference, you can fight against and with three ships at a time. you can do this by pressing arrows that view different ships in combat. Due to this, the combat would have to be slowed because the pause button would not exist in multiplayer (that would be annoying if it did), Fire spread may be nerfed in multiplayer as well.

During combat if your engines can handle it, you may retreat or jump your fleet or a single ship back to the node it came from. If all ships are retreated then the opponent wins the battle.

After all ships in battle are destroyed or retreated then the winner of the battle is reworded with some scrap and random but fair weapon upgrades (most likely from the enemy ship)

To keep the game from becoming boring, random events may pop up. Events like pirate attacks on nodes or invasions on planets at the start of a turn. These events give the players more material in order to build more powerful ships and sometimes be able to find new ones.

Mercenaries may be used in this game mode if found. Mercenaries can be used to Employ temporary ships into your fleet, attack enemy nodes at the beginning of the opponents turn, scout out the opponents last move, or purchasing weapons/drones.


WHY I THINK THIS MODE COULD WORK
Lets be honest, who didn't think this game could use some multiplayer at some point. If we do multiplayer this way, then the whole game wouldn't have to be entirely redone. Keep in mind this would be casual game, nothing too serious. most likely playable via LAN.

If you think about the AI, this game really could work as a multiplayer game.


OTHER IDEAS

Ballistic Weapons: Weapons like Machine guns, Rail Guns, Rifles, Cannons, ECT. These weapons would weak and normally have a fast fire rate. they would not entirely destroy a shield but would deal heavier damage too the Hull.
Ballistic Weapons would require you too find ammo or make ammo using Scrap

Biological Weapons Weapons like Chemicals, Living things, and acid ECT. These weapons would not be effected by shields but have very low damage. they would mostly be used to kill crew members.


Ships
The ability to create your own ship would be very cool and lets be honest, this game is not very complex. letting us make our own ship via in game-editor wouldn't entirely be out of the question. The basics of this would "Sacrifice X for Y"


Thank you for reading. These suggestions are not just for FTL but FTL 2 if the Developers ever decide to make a sequel (which in my opinion would be more appropriate at this point)

Hi, great game, love it
some free idea :
-I think it's too easy to see where is what system in an enemy ship, there should be a device able to hide the systems, and so other device to detect them.
-Some system decoy could be use, there would be more than one shield or weapon system in a ship, but just a real one. Could be nice against an AI having a strategy to use its weapon
-It would be nice to be able to choose in which room a new system would be created
-I think missile launcher are not good enough, the defense drone stop them too easily, bomb is a better way to use them

So, Turn-based Strategy war game meets space. I like it. Multiple players might be too complicated though.
