Suggestion: New Drone Category

There should be a new category for drones created. They should be classified into two types.

#1 combat drones AKA; laser drone, attack drone, defense drone, and boarding drone,

#2 utility drones; anti personnel and repair bot.

Make it so that a ship can buy the upgrade to use utility drones for 40 scrap. This way we will see these guys used a little more.

I've got to say I've probably gone through the game about like 30 or so times and the only times I've ever used the repair bot or anti personnel bot is when I found them for free while using the torus and I usually sold them for scrap as soon as I could pick up an attack drone of some kind. Getting drones as any other ship is 80 scrap and all of them except the torus only have 2 drone slots, using a utility drone of some kind when it could be taken up by a combat drone is usually never feasible. And on ships where they would be really handy like the repair bot for the mantis ship, or the anti personnel bot for the engi ship are also very hard to justify because of how important it is to get combat drones that can do damage.

I don't think it would unbalance the game to allow ships to get these drones for cheaper and allow them to run in tandem with the attack drones, after all they still all cost 2 power to run.

That seems like a pretty good idea. It would even make sense that an android just walking around your own ship would be easier (cheaper) to control than one flying around space/the enemy ship. The biggest problem could be in how to best integrate it into the UI, though I hear that it's not usually good to change that so far into development. Did you make a suggestion topic for this in the "Get Satisfaction" site yet?
