1. Replace the Vortex's Heavy ion with an ion blast I
Ion blast I and Heavy ion both disables and only disables 1 shield without auto-reloaders. While each Heavy ion hit disables the shield long enough for 2 Heavy laser shots, heavy ions are too slow, causing the Vortex to constantly take damage from early enemies. The Ion blast is much faster, giving the Vortex a chance to outshoot many weapons, somehow offsetting the lack of crew.
2. Improve the DA-SR 12's long range scanner
The new Advanced Long range scanner should also reveal enemy ship type at adjacent beacons. I'd consider before jumping into a Zoltan ship, a rebel rigger, or an auto-assault.
3. Give the burst laser III 1 fire chance
I understand that the weapon needs to be slow, but I think it don't need to be punished further by taking the 1 fire chance away.
4. Make the defense drone more consistent across ships
The defense drone performs perfectly on smaller ships such as the Engi cruiser, but hardly stops 2/3 the missiles on larger ships such as the Fed. Cruiser. The drone should at least begin to track and shoot earlier on larger ships.
