Translation: Português Brasileiro.
It's sad this game did not come out in the version in Brazilian Portuguese, and do not understand why developers Achao poor Brazilians do not buy the games. everything is in English! like our language, it was already in BR would have sold more. Until next.

It is true that the game is only available in English. It was not designed to be easily translated, but with the appropriate Mod tools, it is not very difficult to do. A team of volunteers is working on a French version, maybe you could try to work on a Brazilian Portuguese version?

I'm a voluntary translator for Valve's games and Steam, and it would be awesome to translate FTL to PT-BR. How are the French doing it?

Você deveria deixar de olhar somente para o próprio umbigo e entender também o lado dos criadores do jogo. Tradução custa tempo e dinheiro. E este é um produto indie, de baixo orçamento comparado aos jogos mainstream, e com uma equipe de apenas 2 criadores (Matthew & Justin). Porque dar prioridade a um idioma específico como o português se eles podem lançar o jogo numa língua de fácil reconhecimento para a maior parte dos povos como o inglês? Você diz que os criadores acham que os brasileiros são pobres e não compram jogos, e que por isso não fizeram a tradução para o português. Ao invés de reclamar como uma dondoca, por que não se dedica a aprender o inglês ou reúne um grupo de pessoas em torno de um projeto para traduzir FTL para o português. Sua atitude não poderia ser mais tipicamente brasileira.
You should make an effort and try to see it through the developers's point of view. Translation jobs cost money and time. This is an indie game, with a low budget in comparison to triple A titles, and a team of 2 developers only (M & J). Why should they give any priority to such an especific idiom like portuguese if they can just release the game in an easily recognizable language like English. You said developers think Brazilians are poor and don't buy games and that's why they did not translate FTL to portuguese. But you, in turn, have not considered the fact that the developers themselves didn't have enough resources and time to translate this game to a multitude of different languages by the time the game was being developed. Instead of complaining why not dedicating yourself to an english course or to gather a group of people with the sole purpose of translating FTL to portuguese?

I have a hard time understand why people just don't accept english software.
Some of my software projects in Netherlands they just outright refuse to see any English word in their system.
Making good games with English get good international attention and customer.
To people who always whine why developer didn't include "your native language", ask yourself how much great title you know from China which are chinese language?
English is a global language. Making software in English so developer can sell it to anywhere in this world.
This is business sense, not "looking down poor country".

I find it's pretty easy: they're not very good with English, they prefer the sound and words of their native language, they prefer to use a language that matches the rest of their operating system. I understand that a small team such as the FTL team does not have the means to publish their game translated in several languages, and in that case you are right that English is the best language to choose. But when there are the means to do so (money, and/or open-source), I certainly welcome efforts to internationalize software.

A gamer in Lima, New Delhi, Shanghai, Bratislava or any non-english speaking country in the world, large or small is most likely to understand some English. It's the most likely second langueage in the world, besides maybe French. It's an obvious choice for software. French isn't close to the most spoken language. The problem is, there would be large holes in the names of things. I understand that a small team such as the FTL team does not have the means to publish their game translated in several languages, and in that case you are right that English is the best language to choose. The alien names would have to renamed to something too.
I think that starting with a couple of widely spoken languages would help, such as French, Spanish, and then expanding.
