After braving two hours, a meteor shower, Mantis boarders, SPIDERS IN SPACE, pirates, slavers, bad prices, running out of gas, and a nebula that hid an entire sector of death, I got to the end and the rebel boss. First stage, hard but safe. Second stage, DRONES EVERWHERE. I get out on fire and with 5 HP, I calculate running to a repair place but the flagship is only 2 jumps away from the base. There was no time, I had to attack. With a cry of For the Federation!! I moved into the rebel fleet. Dodging laser bursts and spinal mounted guns, I struck straight at the flagship. The crew boarded combating Tach, and Allison in the door control mainframe. As they held them back, fires blazed in the airlocks. Debby ran to put them out as they melted through the O2 systems. The flagship's teleporter weapon pelted us with bolts, ant the rocket launcher punched through our shields. 4, 2, 1 Hull Point Left! And then, as if it was hurling it's very soul across the void at it's antagonist, the ship let forth a Halberd Beam. Photons lanced through space and cut through 5 rooms along the bulkhead! And then as dramatically and suddenly as it started it was over. We were all alive, the med-bay still had power, and we had won. And here's a picture, just in case you doubted our little story.

Huh, I'm surprised you managed to win with that loadout. You didn't have drones or a teleporter, your shields and engines weren't that impressive either, and I've certainly had stronger sets of weapons before (especially since they used enough power you could only use 3 of them at once.)
I understand the first stage wouldn't be too difficult thanks to your breach missile, but with the defense drone in stage 2 you wouldn't be able to damage the boss very quickly relying on those lasers to pierce enough shields to hit with the halberd beam.

It's actually a Breach Bomb, so getting past the defense drone wouldn't be a problem.Number43 wrote: but with the defense drone in stage 2 you wouldn't be able to damage the boss very quickly relying on those lasers to pierce enough shields to hit with the halberd beam.
Holding on to 300 scrap seems like an odd choice though. Didn't want to buy more engines or shields or anything?

It's like he figured "I'm at max power, no need for more upgrades."
