Re: will have translations into other languages?
Sorry, but I really doubt there will ever be any translations with this game, but I guess it would be a possibility or a mod, maybe just a mod support where players can submit their own translations which you then add to your own game yourself.
The reason there won't be many translations is because there is lots and lots and lots of lines of events, which would take really really long time for the devs themselves to translate.
I even think there was some kind of dev comment, maybe on the twitter. I'll check that.

I always have this great idea to post about when reading a thread, but I always seem to loose the subject while writing a reply, and end up not saying anything at all. I should sleep more. Is that a cookie?

Re: will have translations into other languages?
It is certainly too much work for the devs themselves (and not worth their while), but I don't think it is outside the reach of a community of modders/translators. I haven't looked at the resource files yet (I want to keep playing unspoiled
), but it seems to me most text in the game should be in the form of plain text strings, which are technically not too hard to translate, "just" a lot of work.
(This is in contrast to games such as Brogue, which build most text dynamically according to the gender and plural of the object being described, and other circumstances, making translation a real technical challenge, in addition to the sheer amount of work.)

For me, translation would be something unnecessary, but my friend loves that game but he don't understand English a lot.. at all..
Personally I started a traslation FTL into Polish
Btw, If someone wants to help with Polish translation, hit me

But I did, its data.dat in resources :]boa13 wrote:I haven't looked at the resource files yet (I want to keep playing unspoiled)
Yep, that's true.. a lot things of translation but is possible. You just need to open that file with a note editor and translate things.boa13 wrote: but it seems to me most text in the game should be in the form of plain text strings, which are technically not too hard to translate, "just" a lot of work.
