I was thinking to myself over a cigarette how great a vs multiplayer mode would be in FTL. Think about it, each player gets to choose a ship type and gets a set amount of scrap to purchase crew, weapons, systems, and augments with. Then the two players DO BATTLE. It would have a cool rock paper scissors type element to it, and the RNG would keep even the most one sided battles rather engaging. You build a ship focused on that sick alpha strike? Well it just so happens the enemy's ship is all about stealth. You're focused on missles? Too bad they have high powered engines and defense drones. Invade specialized? Well, sorry to say but they have anti-personnel drones and rank 3 doors. I think a multiplayer mode would be a pretty sweet time sink, if not completely balanced or skill based. Your thoughts?

I haven't made a single pause in all of my games, easy or normal. It takes away from my Captain of a ship feel, when under danger or pressure, you cant pause. you gotta assess and act at the speed of light.

Either nobody would have pauses or there would have to be a limited number of them. Like 3 per person or something. Good point though, I hadn't even thought of that.

Well, good for you if that wouldn't be a problem for you then, but you have to understand that there's a lot of people that use it...

That, my friend, is ultra hard mode. I look at pauses as my "captain's ability" to assess situations with deep wisdom and thought in the split moment of a second. Your approach is much more actually captainish. Damn you.
Devs stated somewhere around beta that FTL would remain singleplayer-only.
Unless somebody managed to decompile and alter FTL's sourcecode, there won't be any multiplayer.
