When you say "level 2 shields" do you mean 2 power in shields so you only have 1 shield bubble, or 4 power so you have 2 shiled bubbles?

If you have 2 power, then your next 50 scrap should be invested to get you 4 power in shields. In fact, I make that the first 50 scrap I spend in most games.

if you have 4 power, then your next ... uh whatever scrap should go into level 4 engines, then your next scrap should go into level 5 engines, and then your next scrap should go into the 3rd shield (level 6).

Then start thinking about buying bombs and scanners
