Lux gave Ruwen free reign to look around and chat with the crew while she headed for the helm where Bren was talking to Jake "Are you telling me that he's communicating with us beyond the range of the beacon?" she asked him "That must be one powerful ansible he's using... I wonder if he can stream television with it as well?"
She laughed with her usual shrill laugh "In any case, we should get a move-on to the pirate station; maybe they have medical records on Rockmen there I can use so I can give our new crystalline friend a better checkup than assuming that those cracks are used to attract Crystal women."

Bren looked at Lux with a WTF expression, "Don't tell me you are attracted to him?" He asked chuckling a bit, "I suppose you humans sometimes say a diamond is a girls best friend, and diamonds are a crystaline structure." He said chuckling

"but yes the pirate base is our next stop, we can improve our systems, install the new weapons. That pike beam should be useful, no idea about that other gun" he said scanning it. "However the system seems to think its some kind of projectile launcher, maybe a missile launcher or something?" he theorized

'Alright everyone get into position, as for you Jake we will be heading to these cordinetes if you want to meet me, the code phrase to get in is The Slugs Party, and the Rocks are bringing the drinks." he said

"I think you will like our new crew mate, he isn't hostile and seems willing to help us"

Lux laughed again "Oh come on, that statement has been outdated for centuries... DeBeers tried to stop offworld miners from uncovering diamond deposits but this only led to them seeking protection under the Disney Collective which then led to a dramatic drop in the prices of diamonds once the people realised..."
No doubt Bren was probably still looking confused and/or shocked by that.
She shrugged "I'm sure you've got weird history lessons as well... but the point is that I don't know if those cracks on his crystalline structure are scars... which would make him very popular in bars I suppose or if they're sores or serious wounds... which would make him as popular as a leper. I could ask him, but as a famous doctor once said "Everybody lies" and well he could say they are scars to cover up a disease."

Honestly, I think by FTL time, diamonds have been found out to not be so damned expensive. Also, synthetic diamonds are probably easier and better to make.
Yeah I have a strong stance on the monopoly of DeBeers and their propaganda about diamonds requiring all the money for a tiny chunk of carbon

"Well you should ask him just in case, that way we could help him if he needs it" he said going back to punching in the data for the next jump (and now waiting for "Jake" to catch up LOL)

"My apologies, when we created technology we never advanced enough to create machines that could think like you, I did not mean to offend. "He said with clear earnest in his tone

'But it is good to know that the Rock people are still alive, they were similar to us, we the crystals were the thinkers, they were the do'ers, they were our armed forces. Very brutish...has that changed after all this time?"

"My apologies, when we created technology we never advanced enough to create machines that could think like you, I did not mean to offend. "He said with clear earnest in his tone

"I apologise as well, I might have taken too much offense from such a simple remark" said WOL in return. "And yes, the Rockmen have not lost their..."Touch". In fact, most of their culture revolves around violence, a tradition, really. "The strong live, the weak die" to each their own I suppose."

"I am saddened by this, I would have hoped they would have learned to curb those violent tendisies but since my people must either be dead or back in the home sector hiding and reforming, perhaps thats why they kept like this. So who is in control of this universe, the engi, those...humans?" he asked, "Humans right, you mentioned them earlier. Or something else? "

Jake sighed when he hear Brens voice over the comms. It was good to hear a familiar voice. He forgot about his role as captain of a starship for just a moment, reverting back to when they were just normal kids at the academy. "Bren! My man! Good to hear your voice, dude!" He shouted into the mic. Then, Jake remembered his role as captain - and that momentary smile slipped away. He felt his heart ache in longing for those days at the academy... Starship or not, they were still just kids.

"I will meet you at the pirate station," Jake said, as Bren relayed the coordinates. "Let me know when you get there, I will show up a little bit after you. I don't want to get there first - it'd arouse EVEN MORE suspicion. This ship... you ain't gonna belive it... it's from the future! 400 years in the future! It travelled back in time using an ion storm or something! I'll explain everything when we meet up. Just signal me when you get there, I'll show up right behind you. Collins out."

"Yes we're the humans. Or at least that's what we call ourselves." Kyrie felt like the crystal was a lot like the rockmen, but you could at least hold a conversation with them. "Us, the Engi, and Zoltan, that's the green guy you saw earlier, are allied in the Galactic Federation. I'd like to think we're in control, but right now that might be changing. There's this group we call the rebels that's all humans that want to destroy all other races and be... supreme I guess. They've got a new weapon that could be turning the tide, though. It's called black hole induction or something like that. Right now, we're the ones who are supposed to be stopping it."

Seriously, time travel? she thought to herself, This really is starting to feel like an episode of Captain Awesome. Well at least he didn't say that it travelled back in time by going faster than light in reverse...
"By the way, I don't think you should have said all that over the ansible... you know why family transmissions to and from the Academy were censored, right?" Lux asked "I'm sure every Rebel within... all the light years would have heard about our new weapon."
