First Impression and Questions

Post by licker »

Hello everyone.

Kudos to the FTL team for making such an addictive little gem of a game. It's really come off very well, and I've spent too much time on it honestly ;) Sleep deprivation is going to kick my ass here sooner or later :D

I watched a couple 'Lets Plays' of this, and picked up the mechanics immediately, so simple, so clear, so nicely executed. Being a rougelike vet I was instantly drawn to the somewhat random nature of each play through, and of course, I love the permadeath, really makes those decisions you take almost completely for granted in other games have so much impact that you hold your breath (well I do).

Anyway, not doing a review, plenty of those out there, just wanted to say great job. But... yah, now the questions :)

Is there a way to run on different saves? My daughter really took a shine to the game as well, but wanted to unlock and do the the achievements herself. I'm thinking I can rename the save files and just swap them in, but that's kind of a kludgy way to handle this. So if there isn't a way, how much effort is it to make a login screen before you start a game, pick your 'commander' and then have those commanders run off different saves.

Is there a way to change the speed? I've looked around, and found a post with a way to do it using a 3rd party app of some kind, but it would be great to have at least slow/reg/fast speeds for when you've locked down the enemy and are just waiting for your weapons to finish them off, or when you've finished putting out fires and just want to repair/heal up your ship/crew.

I don't see that there's any penalty to waiting in a safe area before jumping to the next one, so you might as well just let your O2 go back to 100%, and get everything/one also to 100%, but just waiting a couple minutes for this to happen is a bit annoying at times.

MOAR HOTKEYZ!!! Hotkey your crew, hotkey the jump, hotkey the whatever else there is to click on!!! HOTKEYZ PLEEEZZZZZE!

Yah, I'm lazy, I hate the mouse, I love hotkeys ;) And there's not that many buttons anyway, not like we need to waste hotkeys on save/load

So yah, great game, already a blast, looking forward to whatever else comes along, but 3 question/request

1) Multiple logins to allow different people to play their own achievements on one install.
2) Speed Control
3) HOTKEYZ!!
