Got too greedy.

Here I was, cruising through the galaxy, doing pretty well for myself. In sector 5, I got damaged in a bad way. I lost a crewmate in a losing battle, and had to jump away. I kept trudging on with my damaged hull and loads of scrap, hoping for that store that will save me. It doesn't come, and I move to sector six. The second blip I jump to pits me against a Mantis ship, that far exceeds my ship. I was determined. I sent out the drones, and kept firing the ion cannon in quick succession, doing my best to hold out against the triple missile barrage. Now down to 33% hull, I was making my mark, making a comeback. Suddenly, a transmission : They want to surrender. In my sorry state, what right did I have to refuse? I weighed my odds, and even though I knew what was coming, I decided I was going to finish them off. It was payback time. Their shields were rising, my hull was falling. I got in some good ion shots, and my drones did the rest. Their ship was gone. I had won, for the briefest moment. One last missile managed to escape their ship before it dropped off. I saw it, and I figured that I can handle this last shot. I scream in victory, only to look at that last desperate missile push me over the edge. That was the last battle of the USS Starbound. Sacrificed us to kill them, because I was too prideful to let them go.
