motivation to play the game

ive just started about a week ago and can't find a reason to keep playing. so, for everyone, whether youve been playing since 2012, or just started like me, what motivates you to play?

Hard mode Advanced, a lot of challenge even for those experienced (especially weaker ships). The real fun comes in when some random drops favor you to use a suboptimal/slow strategy (like vulcan, missile-only weapons, offensive drones, etc) and get to beat the flagship with those set-up, OR have a weak endgame setup barely able to beat game with less than
n 5 hull points remaining.
