Game crashing on startup every time

My Steam copy of the game is mysteriously crashing on startup about 10 seconds after launch. The window pops up and finishes loading but it just crashes after that. It seems to generate a crash report but the stdout file remains empty.
Here is my crash file and dxdiag. The stdour and stderr files are totally empty.

Does it get into the main menu?
Try going into your Catalyst Control Center and changing the Anti-Aliasing settings for FTL. Check out this image:

Try both Box and Standard, as the image suggests.

No it wasn't making it to the menu. It's working now that I selected "use application settings"

Now I don't see anything in the travel map though :\ It has the special destinations but otherwise it's blank background

The fix should be similar. Make sure the AA settings are set to "Standard"

Yup that did it as well thanks! Awfully picky graphic settings though :p
