URGENT ADVICE IS NEEDED!

I MADE IT TO FREAKING SECTOR 8 ON NORMAL!!! I thought this was not possible. And yes, my ship IS the Basilisk. The one I was whining about a few hours earlier. I would like to know what I should spend my last couple hundred scraps on before I brave the boss, because I feel like I will never again make it here and I DON'T want to mess up.

I have the following stats right now:

Shields: 6 bars
Engine: 4 bars
Medbay: 1 bar
o2: 2 bars
Teleporter: 2 bars
Cloaking: 1 bar
Weapons: 5 bars

Reactor: 18 bars

basic systems all 1 bar, except sensors, they are 2 bars, and I have backup batteries

Weapons available: Glaive beam, Breach missile launcher, Burst laser mark II ( I know, lucky beach? :D )
Drones: Def drone 1, boarding drone

Crew: 3 mantises, all combat 2 and nothing else, a rockman with combat 2 and gunnery 1 ( I use him for boarding), A human with piloting 2, a Zoltan with gunnery 2, Virus the Engi (2 of everything), and another rockman with combat 1 and engine 2

Augmentations: Weapons pre-igniter, rock plating and mantis pheromones.

I REALLY WANNA BLOW THE BOSS UP, what should I perk on?

I have 200 scraps

I can't continue an abandoned game due to a bug, so I need an answer before I go to bed (if I won't get it I will just leave my laptop running overnight, lol).

Any help much appreciated!

Okay, screw this, I just tried and failed miserably. As always, got the first 2 stages but I only had 3 bars left for the last stage and I died. This game is stupid and impossible.

Sadly this forum is not the place to get instant turnaround help.

For what it's worth:

4 engines is way too low. I like to have them at 5 by sector 4. 4 in sector 8 is unheard of.
I don't like your weapons. Breach Missiles don't work at all in the 2nd phase and are severely limited in the 3rd. The Glaive gets no benefit from them unless you aim at shields. BL2 is nice but you need 3 hits in a row on a 4-shield enemy to do 2 damage per room with the Glaive, and they don't mesh well on timings.

I assume you teleported guys into the missile room first? Then the ion room, then the beam room? That's the #1 strategy on every mode but Hard.

When urgent advice is required, you need to wait a day or two for someone to help out. And if someone just so happens to be on at the time you've asked for help, expect their response to take an hour and a bit, especially if it's Flagship advice.

Anyway, teleporter is your friend. Go after Missiles first. Always Missiles. Then Ion. Then deal with the enemy ship itself. The Halberd isn't too important to deal with but you might spare a shot or two for it.

Leave the guy in the triple burst laser alive. You don't want to deprive the Flagship of its crew. You won't like it when it's deprived of crew.

I just didn't have the right weapons for the whole thing, I did take his rockets out first and all that, but I had nothing to knock the medbay out with. Thankfully, my boarding party had such high "firepower" they could kill the last guy who would try and escape the shield room. One by one I could take them out but in the meantime, every 2nd powersurge which I had no cloak for would hit a few shots and it would slooooowly chip my hull down.

I should have allocated more power to the drones, that way I could have shot in a boarding drone, and THAT would have caused some problems for them. But it's too late now.

You had free reign over the ship and yet you didn't have enough firepower? You had a Glaive Beam. It does massive damage to Zoltan overshields! A team of four can easily take down a shield room too, leaving everything wide open for anything to cause damage.

Your elite fighting squad shouldn't have been taking their guys out in stage 3. You empty the main ship of crew in stage 1 if at all possible.

It can happen. Maybe the Hacking Drone got too much to handle or you needed active damage weapons to support your boarding team. I've had to face off enemy soldiers in Phase 2 and 3 outside of Hard difficulty.

Then again that rarely happens if you have a boarding crew and not just Mind Control

Don't worry, you can learn from the mistakes for your next run, so you can aim at bomb weapons(or maybe rockets) next time to destory that medbay. You got far and now you know what's needed so don't give up and remember that losing is part of the fun.

How high were the engines ? You might want to put more into that, especially if you don't get cloak(I would get them up to the second highest level and don't buy the 120 scrap one unless you have enough scrap for it and enough power to power the thing up.)

I started playing same day as you.

Maybe you're not playing enough to have developed a strategy yet?
I have no life right now and averaging 2 full runs (making it to sector 8 but not always defeating the boss) and about 6 restarts (sectors 3-6) a day.
Playing on hard right now. Got as far as the 3rd form and I knew my mistake.
