Decent game.. How to improve it?

More..of everything.
And more control and infuluence on some events. The randomness is just TOO much. Maybe increasing the number of items offered on trade station would help.
Also, being able to choose which crewmemebrs to send on away mission. It's irritating to loose your cherished weapons officer, then you normally wouldn't send away.
Does crew skill even influence those events? I know if you have a crew member of a specific race you can get another option - but does skill come into play.
If my crew has good close combat fighting skills, shouldn't that inrease their chances to fend off the spider/aliens in random events?
If they have good engineering skills, shouldn't that increase their chances to put out fires and repair damage while on away missions?
Why no Chief Medical officer position? He would maybe give the crew a slow heal over time even outside of medbay ( 1 HP every 3 seconds)...or increase heling speed in medbay. Or maybe a 25% chance to stabilise a dying crewmember (when a crewmemebr drops dead, he pops up back in the medbay with 1 health)
